U13-U18 Session #6
Session #6: Continued Development Of Vision & Awareness. Looking Beyond The Ball To Find The Next Pass.
pdf of Session #6: U13-U18 Train To Train / Train To Compete Session#6

ABC’s (Circle)
Time: Max 7 minutes.- Players can start anywhere you like on a cone, (example above: 12 o’clock. They run counter clockwise around the cones, driving arms, then at 3 o’clock leave the hoop and spring past the cone.
– Two hoops side by side brings a touch of competition.
– Have them also go clockwise by flipping them to the other side.- YOU COULD HAVE THEM START AT 6 AND LEAVE at 9 o’clock

Techniques & Breaking Lines
Passing – Random, constantly changing environment.
1. Players can’t play the same ball twice and have three to four balls in the area depending on the numbers. Players must pass then go find ‘search’ for another ball. Have players OPEN UP with their first touch.
2. Players look to ‘break the line’. They must find two players then get behind the imaginary line that connects the two of them.
3. Players get on the line then back up as the ball is played so that they break the line upon receiving.
4. Encourage Double Passes (1-2s) as Players become the PLATFORM closer to the player in the middle.
– One touch for double pass but look BEYOND
– Reverse Pass / No look Pass

5v3+2 Overlapping (15 mins)
8 players (4v3+1) – 10 players (5v3+2)
– Players Per Field (MANIPULATE NUMBERS TO FIT THE GROUP)
– Players dribble across the line to score. If they score, then they get another ball from their end and begin the next attack.
1. Dribble across the line to score.
2. Must overlap before there is a goal. This is an introduction to many so we do not need to spend a great deal of time on Overlaps here…. SHOW them the picture of what an overlap looks like and have them attempt to solve the problem….only meant to be a 8-10 minute exercise. Communication of the Overlap is HOLD and then NOW after the overlapping player gets past the PLATFORM. We always need a platform in order to overlap.
3. Can they find the DOUBLE PASS in order to go forward or across the field?
SPEAK TO PLAYERS ABOUT 360 SUPPORT. AS PLAYERS LEAVES SPACES TO OVERLAP, OTHER PLAY ERS MUST FILL THE ‘THREE KEY SPACES’
.

4v4 w Keepers Off Back
Back to 4v4 Final Game With Multiple Keepers
When play ‘Starts Over’ through keepers then the keeper dribbles out and the player who passed the ball to the keeper (Platform) becomes a keeper.
– Focus on Platforms, Flattening Out & Breaking the Line (Living in the Triangle) in order to Play Through or Around
– Opening up to face forward
– Discuss Platforms and Starting Over
– Get to player facing forward Platform (‘build platforms’)
– If too many players defending central then go around…. may have to go back and around. Can the find the DOUBLE PASS to go forward or across the field?
