4V4 OR 5V5 (15 mins)
SMALL SIDED TO START TRAINING
Players dribble across the line to score. If they score, then they get another ball from their end and begin the next attack.
1. Dribble across the line to score.
2. Can a player get across the front ‘PLATFORM’ for a pass forward or a pass across the field? Can they find the DOUBLE PASS in order to go forward or across the field?
SPEAK TO PLAYERS ABOUT 360 SUPPORT. AS PLAYERS LEAVES SPACES TO OVERLAP, OTHER PLAYERS MUST FILL THE ‘THREE KEY SPACES’ and MAKE RUNS BEHIND THE FIRST DEFENDER.

BALL STRIKING
1. ‘Heel to the Centre of the Ball’ – Plant in front of the ball
2. ‘Shoulders Back – Hips Forward’ – Stay tall
3. ‘Cross Over and End Where You Started’ – Lean to the side and lean back

PASSING AND RECEIVING IN PAIRS (15 mins)
Passing and Receiving
– Players asked to move around the area passing and moving with a partner and asked to think about the following;
– Balanced passing. Shoulders back and hips forward. Step backwards after the pass with the kicking foot.
– Players look to get into positions where they break lines (red line – imaginary line between two defenders) when they receive a pass.
– Two touches. Cannot play the same ball twice in a row. Play one then search for the other ball.
– Get across the front the player with the ball. When you are facing forward and can play forward, you are called a ‘Platform’.
PLATFORM – GETTING BEHIND THEIR BACK LINE
5v5 or 6v6
AREA: The length is two x 18 yard areas with a 10 metre middle zone where 2-3 target players are placed (yellow).
– Players build an attack close to their goal. When the opportunity arrives they play a pass into a target player (Receiver) in the middle zone. The team then builds a platform (Creator). The platform can play a forward pass into the final zone only if it is done on one touch.
– Since it is the run that initiates the pass, the platform is looking for forward runs into the final area. The forward runners are looking for the pass from the target back to the platform.
– The team MUST play into the middle area target and back to a platform before going behind. Once in the final zone it becomes an open game to goal.
.

FINAL GAME – 5v5 / 6v6
– Encourage running in front of the ball and behind defenders.
Variation: Player passing the ball must become the furthest player forward… encouraging forward running.
– Must have platform in order to find that forward runner.
