Advanced Platforms
Platforms have been defined as a Platform as ‘a player facing forward who can play forward when they receive the ball’.
With this as a reference, an Advanced Platform is a player facing forward, can play forward, and is located in front of the final defensive line (Back 4, Back 3) of the opposition. An Advanced Platform can play a pass behind the opposition’s final line more easily as a result of this advanced position. Number 6 in the image could be considered an Advanced Platform as they are located in a position where they can play a pass behind the final defenders.
