5v4+1 or 5v3+2 TRANSITION

Objectives:To build transition reference
Area Size: 15×15 or smaller

5v4+1 or 5v3+2 TRANSITION

– SCORE by ‘Dribbling across the line’
– After Scoring go back and get another ball and START the attack OVER.
– SCORE point by ‘Starting Over’ and then scoring
– SCORE by BREAKING THE LINE with a pass that results in a goal (thus two points for that goal)
– The player on the ball facing forward. “Why would we want them facing forward?” “What do we call a player facing forward, who can play forward?” Introducing OVERLAP PLATFORM.

– Can the player on the ball dribble inside? “What does this achieve?”
– Anytime a ball played wide, let’s get an overlapping player.
– If we cannot overlap on one side, ‘start over’ and let’s try on the other side.
– May want to give point if they open up with the first touch. “Why would opening up help you here?”

If needed, a coach can have 2 or 3 players drop off of the back. This will allow the attacking team to focus on a specific reference. As the execution improves, the coach can have an extra player to enter the game as a defender.
